Lightest bar pressure 11m kite for old school tricks

Postby Indulang » Sat Jan 15, 2022 12:26 pm

As the title says, I'm looking for a kite with huge hang time and also the lightest bar pressure. My goal is to learn grabs/board-offs, etc.. I won't be riding waves or a foil board with it. It will be exclusively used for improving my jumps and old-school tricks. I assume one of the delta kites Rebel, Orbit, Machine, Core XR7, etc.. would be the right option. I'm particularly keen on kites with super light bar pressure, especially when you're powered and in-flight during jumps.

You have a good list there. Of those, the lightest bar pressure will be the XR7.

Does it have to be LEI? Many foil kites come with light bar pressure and also with the best hang time you can get.

Most boosting kites have medium to high bar pressure. Ozone Edge is a great booster with excellent hang time and has lighter bar pressure than most.

Tried them all except the machine, I'll say the orbit has the lightest bar pressure but probably not the most hangtime

1. Orbit - lightest bar pressure, worst hangtime
2. XR7 - medium bar pressure, 2nd best hangtime
3. Edge - medium light bar pressure, by far best hangtime of these
4. Rebel - medium light bar pressure, 2nd best hangtime

Different sizes can have different bar pressures. I haven't ridden the XR7 in size 11, but ridden the 10, 9, 8. I have ridden all the others in 11m (I haven't ridden the 2022 Rebel, but the 2021). Personally, I ride Rebels for Airstyle stuff. It doesn't match the Edge for hangtime, but I'm bias against Ozone. :D

I would look at foil kites. Way more hang time than lei ones. Sonic 3 11m or soul 2 10m much lighter bar pressure than an lei

The OP is concerned with bar pressure, so I would rule out foil kites - particularly the Flysurfer Soul which has heavy bar pressure.

I have to humbly disagree with Blackend. There's no way the XR has heavier bar pressure than the Rebel or the Edge. I encourage you not to believe either of us, and Google around. It's fairly well documented that the XR has the lightest bar pressure of these 3 kites - all of which I've flown recently.

The Orbit does have the lightest bar pressure in the OP's list, but I would not consider this kite an Airstyle kite. The Orbit was designed to win King of the Air...which it did. The Orbit is much better suited to big air / kiteloops rather than hangtime / Airstyle.

No comment on the Slingshot Machine, as I haven't flown this kite yet.

I have a Sonic 3 11m, Soul 10m, Edge 11m v10.

Sonic3 has best hang time and lightest bar pressure, Soul and Edge have similar bar pressure and hang time.

How long a go did you fly a soul? I currently have two xr kites, an orbit and 2 souls. The soul has by far the lowest bar pressure of them all.
