Blade Kites - Are they still operating?

Postby emmandkev » Tue Mar 08, 2022 4:29 pm

I have two 2017 Blade Triggers that haven’t seen the light of day since I took up foiling in 2018. They are still in excellent condition and so I’ve donated them to a friend who has just got into kiting, but doesn’t have the budget for a new quiver of kites.

As noted the kites themselves are still crispy like new and the bladders are perfect (stored in a cool dark cupboard). However the Unibar chicken loop has degraded. The plastic sleeve has become brittle and broken in 3 places. I’d like to replace it.

Because I’ve been almost exclusively foiling my focus has been on very different brands than Blade, so until I tried to contact them about the chicken loop I’ve had no reason to keep tabs on what they are up to.

It’s been more than 2 days now and my email has gone unanswered. Their Facebook page hasn’t been updated since 2018.

Are they still making kites?

If not can anyone recommend an alternative chicken loop that will work with Blade’s Unibar?

Thanks

While it looks like Blade might not be doing business anymore the HQ bar does use their QR so you might be able to source parts from them

If I remember it just a rope that loops inside the CL so there are dozens of CL that will work. Liquid Force also used the Blade CL for a while.

So who's the next kite brand to go bye bye? If I had a guess I'd say Switch. Then maybe RRD.
