Does one front line need to slide for the safety?
you put this 10m away from the safety that's why it's called a high Y. There's no point in having a low Y since it flies exactly the same as a V, just use the V in if it's lower than 10m
Wait whut? The safety won't work if you basically tie the 2 powerlines together...
the control bar has 2 lines. they aren't tied together. Those two lines are free to move. Then walk up 10 meters. 10 meters up the lines you put that lark's head thru the line. When you throw your QR the control bar will travel up the lines until it hits that knot. That gives you 10 meters worth of safety line. The amount of safety line required is as long as your widest kite so unless you have a kite that is 20 meters wide this will be fine.
This is a high Y, not a low V. We aren't tying the lines together right at the V, that's the whole point of this exercise, to make the Y 10 meters away from the control bar to imitate the pinching actions that these high Y control bars have.

The bar will not travel 10 meters. With your system, you basically have 'full depower' and that's it, like 1,5 meters. And old mini-5th system. You are tying the 2 lines together at the split. The lines need to move independently at the split to give a full flagout.
What you're suggesting can be very dangerous

kiteAttitude have one.
https://www.kiteattitude.fr/en/74-rehausseur-de-y.html
I have one. Seems a good idea as its possible to put on without reinforcing the lines (e.g. for the clamping action of the duotone one). No cheaper than the duotone version though and you still have to work out how to mark the lines to find where it needs to go if you change the split points regularly.

The Duotone one works very well, doesn’t seem to clamp the line too hard so I just wrapped a tiny piece of tape around the line first. It’s that cheap that it seems a bit silly fiddling around with DIY options.
