Blackened: I assume you wear a wetsuit? I have to do the same with a thicker wetsuit, kicking it off and throwing it back on…I hate cold water. Warm water with just shorts make a HUGE difference!

That looks way cooler. Spins via the handle look a bit daft in comparison. Something new to work on!

I also hate cold. I do find when I ride my 2mm shorty, it's much, much easier to do board work. Unfortunately, I do that about 3x a year. The rest of the time I'm in a 3/2 when other people are rocking boardies or just a 1mm top. I'm just soft.

The height of the rail can make a difference, also the stiffness. Faster flips or spins etc need to be grabbed fast and hard, otherwise it slips off. With the rail Flysurfer provided it’s older boards, it was harder to catch it, so I added some extra foam to it to make it a bit higher and stiffer, and it became easier to catch the board.

I prefer it shorter as it's easier for me to catch for some reason. Maybe I should try a wider/taller version again as I sometimes end up crap grabbing with just the ends of my fingers and dropping it.

Just glue a bunch of this jandal together and do some carving...

Here I do all those tricks, and in the cold I can’t even take the board off…imagine.

I love kiting in the cold and I'm never cold, 33f/1c I'm out there in socks and 2mm gloves, however, it's incredibly difficult to do board offs in the cold. You have to really flex and bend at the waist, hips and knees to get the board on and off, and when it's that cold I have so much clothing on I can hardly move. I'm not cold, I just can't flex enough. Like Toby said, you want a tall stiff rail that is soft to grip, it makes everything so much easier. Nothing sucks worse than getting a really nice flip or spin on the rail, grabbing the board, and right when you are putting it back on, it slips out of your hand. What I do is get a weathering 1 inch strip with self adhesive, tape it to my board, then inside the weathering strip I add 1 inch pressure hose so it's very soft to touch but the rail itself is very firm.

The best airstyle handle by farrrrrrrrr. Superb grip (better than tennis racket grip etc etc.), perfect height, grip does not come loose ( not even after +7 years of use) .

This handle has a rectangular shape and will not twist in your hand during board-offs. Round handles will twist. I tried 3 different handles before, but this one is 100 times better than the rest. If you wrap grip tape around existing handles than they will become too thick and don' t fit in your hand like you would like it. Other grips (like tennis racket grips) become too slippery when they become wet. Or will twist around the the existing plastic non grippy surface of a plastic handle.

They use to sell this perfect T- handle on airstyle.tv . Why did you stop selling them Toby ?.

Let us know if this guy still fabricates these handles. I would like to buy one for my bro's kiteboard ?.

Turns out I am a metal worker haha

Two proto handles made from an aluminum 3m x 30m flat bar (10 bucks at the hardware store). Used a vice, hacksaw and a paint bucket to cut and bend by hand. Very stiff up top, but hopefully no lateral bending with the extra reinforcement down low.

Over the top height.. but gotta start somewhere eh

make the smaller one a go straight up, not go inwards...so you give it a bit more space to hold and it should be perfect.

Grip is needed for sure...like this it is hard to hold and dangerous...because sometimes you do crash on it or with faster flips etc it could cut your hand.
