Any photos of the board? Still interested if it was just a hard impact or rocks? My motivation for kiteloops going down dramatically )

I saw them, doesn't look like broken on a normal crash. It kinda had a hole...so rock is very likely

Surely the moral of this story is if you're going to go big and/or throw down a complicated trick where consequence of failure is high... do it in deep water!?
Though having said that while the kite not catching him is a contributing factor, landing on a rock is just plain bad luck.
At least it looks like all the bone breaks are away from the ankle joints so the prospects for a full physical recovery look good. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Janek.

I guess the board was from a "story" as well. I'm not sure with how much certainty one could say, but for someone not being an expert on materials, board construction etc. it definitely looked "obvious" that he hit something - so I wouldn't think this shows it is unsafe to do loops. Any jump - even a couple of meters high could have caused a problem (it seems) where he landed.
Not an expert on fractures either, but breaking both and fairly high up might suggest as well that this wasn't something twisting, but based on a serious impact? A friend of mine did something similar jumping off a building - breaking both his legs just like that due to a bad landing.

Yeah I smashed my lower leg mounting biking. Not fun. But you do recover. He will be back.

As I understand it the rock has always been there so knowingly jumping exactly around that spot is more like tempting fate than bad luck.

Think competition organizers need to review risk assessments for locations and ensure riding zones have minimal risk.
Legs can heal.
Necks, backs, skulls are different.
