I am planning to spend about 6-8 months in Brazil kiting, starting in Cumbuco and then probably moving up the coast to Prea or Barra Grande.
I had a browse on air B&B and the prices are ranging from 60-150$ per night for a place. I am curious to know where fellow kiters are finding thier accommodation for mid to long term.
I'm looking for an apartment not a room but am amazed at the prices per night for accommodation here. My budget is around 700-1000$ per month.
Any advice on where to stay or just in general would be appreciated.

Prices keep rising…not a cheap place anymore.
But you should be able to find apartments for 3000 Reais per month for a longer period.
Try booking and see what’s available, then try to find a direct contact.
Cumbuco Residence, Green Club, Sun Village, Flat Shop are some apartments to google.
Cumbuco guesthouse is a Pousada, but they also have small apartments…contact them and ask.

Thanks so much, I actually remember your post a few years back saying it was very good value.
Its impressive how quick things change and prices start rising.
Any other info is welcome, appreciate the response

Since Covid it’s booming.
Plus a new mayor who pushes things forward…
There are places which didn’t boom as much, which should be cheaper.
Example Icarai, which is a 5 min drive from Cumbuco. Bus 10 min, bus is free currently. Apartments maybe 1000 Reais per month…but it’s more dangerous and less beautiful.
Or Tabuba…even closer, but way less restaurants and apartments, but still possible to find something a bit cheaper.
Taiba further away, but great kiting, and a car is needed to get around.
Just check on Booking.com and see what’s available along the coast.

With booking.com hotels.com etc I find that fewer and fewer places in the world you can negotiate on rates. Even in the most remote places that has been true for me in the last 10 years or so. Exception is Brazil. Not everywhere of course, but amazing how some WhatsApp-conversations just lead from one thing to the other.
Prime location with high demand it goes without saying you can’t expect to get something dirty cheap. But if you are polite and willing to ask you never know what you might come across.

haven't checked accomodation yet, but flight tickets (at least from Europe) got way up to comparing to last year. Air France more or less doubled the price on Paris - Fortaleza route, KLM stopped flying. TAP is the only feasible option for this fall, and you won't get it for less than 1000€ anyway

Trudeau. You are right. I haven’t checked before now. TAP has always been expensive when I have checked before, but with KLM gone the price levels are really something else.
I guess also influenced by fuel prices, but that we are not allowed to talk about. Climate change and all.

we had Corona last year...less people travelling, so of course cheaper.
This year more people will travel again...and so planes are booked...few less flights this year as well...
and yes, fuel prices are up too.

Even before Covid you wouldn’t see prices close to this. Right now I would be looking at paying about 50% more for Economy than I paid for Premium Economy in 2019.
Not a big problem though. As I’m not allowed in anyway
