I use 800 grit sand paper to brush it off , works good
Not a good idea.
1.Most contacts have a very thin layer of gold on the base of copper. Once gold is removed copper will be easily corroded and you will need to use sand paper every week. You would have ruined it,. To clean gold contacts from any residue little rubbing with a little isopropyl alcohol on a piece of cotton textile is the usual procedure recommended for any electronics.
2.Obviously if salty water dried on contacts and very fine salt crystals formed - you do not want to rub the gold with salt as this would remove gold as efficiently as sand paper does. Hence you use clean water rinse to dissolve and remove these.
Then do (1) above.
3. I know this as was doing it a lot every 6 months with old 90s room size computers. Which I serviced for a few years. They had thousands of contacts like this
computers kept going this way.
And I my back ground is an electronics engineer.
And I did make the same mistake myself and ruined an important piece of equipment once. So learned it the hard way
4.Obviously if your Woo contacts are already ruined by sand paper or coins or by any other means - you would have to use sandpaper again. But you would probably use 5000 or 3000 much finer grit to make them last, I would suggest.
5.If you dont have isopropyl alchogol you can buy paper injection wipes with it from a Pharmacy. Or use distilled vodka like Absolute or similar.
You just need to remove residue
without removing any metal gold.
6.BTW
isopropyl alcohol is poison. Do it in the open air and ideally wear rubber gloves. Do not breath in if you can. Wash your hands after in any case.
Hope this helps
