Amazing winds, impressive Tilmann :D

Although being windy at night is soooo unbearable when every single night, it howls in everything and you can not go out to eat in the evening, outside.

It gets to you, in a bad way, quite fast, even if you LOVE wind.

Some places has "lee" at land/the city, so it isnt that bad (say Capetown) in the evening, but still not pleasant and relaxing

One thing I have to note, it seems we are talking 35 knots of wind?
Maybe 30-35.

Not storm winds, but a "Near gale" to a "Gale" wind.

Storm wind is 48-55 knots average :thumb:

As I know I have written before, only your grandma calls "everything" a storm, even if her hat flies off in 9 knots

Only the two upper colours in the scales on the maps, dark brown and purple, is storm.

In Germany "Sturm" begins at 41 kn. So in gusts there is storm every day (see pic: "Winds: 30-35G(=gusts)45kt")
But you are right: it´s not storm average. But maybe there are some thermal or windtunnel effects on top - who knows

Whatever - every storm lover has definitely the obligation to check this out. No doubt about that :cool2:

I get 56 out of 60 days good kiting in Western Australia, but that doesn't give the adrenalin of being chased by pirates.

There is no piracy in summer as the sea conditions are too rough.

The problem is the islamic terrorism :!:

But your season is short, November to April, the other 7 months are very average.

If you are interested of old seafarer stories of this region, have a look @ the books of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_de_Monfreid. One is also in german availible : Geheimnisse des Roten Meeres. It is very fascinating how they navigated in small sailing vessels , how they used the daily strong wind system and how they managed to survive. I enjoied the reading very much
