Ozone infinity V2 144 vs 148

Has anybody tried both these boards and if so do you have a feel for which is more suitable for a 90kg rider? I want to maintain the "fun" factor (ie not feel like riding a big plank) and I'm not interested in riding in on the edge marginal light winds, but just when its a bit weaker but with a view to being able to hold on if the wind picks up in the odd gust. But at the same time don't want the board to be too small for my weight.

Any adice about whether to go 144 or 148?

I can't comment on that board specifically and I am all for "bigger boards" than the trend from at least 3-5 years ago, but as a general comment 148x48 is very large.

My current board is 140x43 and ideally that could have been a bit larger, but unless I was doing very very specific low wind kiting (which I find boring anyway) I wouldn't consider 148x48 (as a general comment - Infinity v2 might work).

I am around 100kg by the way. And usually I'm not the first one out of the water when the wind drops (that also depends on the kite I'm riding of course). With my 13m Edge I can ride somewhere around 15 knots - and at 17 or something it is getting a bit of fun I guess. A bigger board I could imagine I might have been able to ride at 1-2 knots less.

How are the conditions where you are typically kiting? If the water is flat then the downside in my opinion is less having a board that is "too big". And are you looking for a board to jump and/or do tricks with or not?

In lighter winds the water gets fairly flat, with maybe a slight amount of chop.

I normally ride a 138 to 140 board on 17 to 30 knots.

And my hope is to be able to do some basic tricks/jumps etc (nothing too fancy) but more than just mowing the lawn.

If you are already at 140 as your normal board then I would go big. 144 might be cutting it too close.

It isn't all about length though. These boards are quite wide.

Vs 140x42 (as a baseline) the 144x47 is about 15% bigger and the 148x48 is about 21% bigger.

I am in the funny position that I believe most kiters would benefit from larger boards (even this idea of having almost the smallest possible board seems to be dying), but that the biggest lightwind boards are basically just for a quite specific type of riding.

It seems like there aren't many, if any, on here with experience from these boards - and even if they had there will also be a subjective element to it. Personally I don't think one will be brilliant and the other terrible - both would probably work well.

I think both are too big to be fun. I'm about 90kg and for light wind fun I use a custom 145x44 with the same shape as a normal freestyle board (Rocker, channels) that adds fun in lightwind sessions. I still have a 150x50 Shin King Gee, which starts going earlier but it's not fun as soon as it gets choppier.

Also I didn't follow the sheep path and I get a 14-10-7 quiver to have fun in lighter winds.
