North News:

North launches all-new Code Zero Performance Foil Kite

code.png

Borrowed from the North sailing heritage, Code Zero is the name of a sail born to go fast in light, shifty conditions. Like its namesake, North has engineered this kite for performance in very light air.

The all-new Code Zero is a light, fast and reactive single-strut performer with effortless one-handed control and efficient light wind power delivery. It flies and turns quickly - with excellent drift and manoeuvrability which makes it ideal for foiling and small surf. One of the lightest single-strut kites available, Code Zero has a playful and agile feel with dynamic steering.

Refined for weight savings, the kite’s construction is stripped back to the essential. Using lighter DLE140 dacron on the leading edge and strut for stiffness and durability, a double-canopy layer to reinforce the trailing edge and lighter-weight bladder material in every size. DuraLite wingtip chafe protectors provide abrasion resistance only where you need it, and small battens on the 9m and 11m stabilize the canopy.

Super fun and easy to fly, with intuitive relaunch and reverse launch, Code Zero is also great for learning to kite or foil in light winds. The kite is stable and evenly tensioned, with a balanced geometry. It won't luff, over-fly or front stall, and its one-handed steering means you can always foil in your preferred stance.

Code Zero is a highly efficient kite with a wide wind range and impressive power delivery for a one-strut kite - which means you can ride lighter wind conditions with a smaller kite. With the 3, 5, and 7m, you'll cover the whole wind range, from 10 to 30 knots.

nice, also if at my level I prefer more crossover single struts kites (at least for the moment) so I would choose an AlphaV2 or a Reach2022

really strange seeing it fluttering in the hydrofoil freeride on the youtube video tho

Nice, but no any info about real weight. In our times if you tell in promo that one of the lighter you need to provide kg details for sure. In bith promo video it flutters and quite a lot. Seems to me Ufo v2 is more faster and of course lighter.

I must admit I don’t like white . I have some white duotone kites and the look dirty pretty quick .
What was more Intresting was I followed the link and noticed that they now sell every thing direct off the north website
When did that start ? Mystic are the same now so are NAG now a direct sales outfit too ? That’s a suprise given how they positioned themselves at start

Strange that the marketers would call this “Code Zero”. What are they gonna do when the designer decides he wants to make a strutless kite? Code Subzero?

Probably from the weird topography in the background the wind has to travel over. As beautiful as it looks, I'm not sure how much I'd like to kite in that particular spot.

Regardless of the reason for the flutter the marketing team isn't exactly doing a great job here from this press statement.
* You need to explain the name to not immediately think/read "zero performance" and its most likely to become the part of the name people will remember and use rather then the code zero part.
* Having flutter in the first demo videos is pretty bad. There barely is any footage without some sort of flutter on the kite. Even if the conditions aren't great you would expect them to have/make some footage without this issue.
And if it would be spot dependent and impossible to make any footage without flutter ( I doubt that ) than its a bad place to go to and showpiece your gear.
These kites are going to people who probably kited for a few years not a beginner who maybe would not even notice or think about some flutter.
* And if we are nit-picking: Arguably it should be called hydrofoil kite not foil kite or people might have very different expectations of what type of kite it is ....
