Lesvos island (Greece) honest feedbacks?

Hi Kiteforum-ers

I would like to ask for your honest feedbacks and reviews (of course if any of you know this place) about the Greek island called LESVOS?

Looking in internet I find only discordant feedbacks, many of which are negative (gusty and violent winds, very small beaches and difficult to get out, many spots with offshore winds’, etc.)
At the same time I found some people loving the island for kitesurfing and telling me totally different feedbacks.

Who should I believe?
I was also wondering if many of those negative opinions maybe were created to bring the island into a bad light, in favor of the near Limnos and neighboring Turkey spots instead?

any helpful answer is much appreciated, because I am considering to spend the whole month of September there for kitesurfing.

(I’ve also been in Lemnos for almost 2 months of kitesurfing and I didn’t like it at all because I have never found so bad and gusty winds as there!)

Can say that Ialyssos in Rhodes has been amazing so far if you are not fussed which Greek island you are going to visit.

I have never been to Lesbos, but right nearby you have Turkey with amazing wind and very nice flat water spots in Urla, Ayvalik and Gökçeada and cheaper prices

Actually I am looking for reliable feedbacks about Lesvos island because I have a friend there who can provide an almost free-of-charge accommodation.
That's why I was considering to spend there a long kitesurf holidays

been there 10 years ago (did not go for watersports)
The island is quite big... you need a car. Nice things to see and friendly people...
most beaches are small (almost no tides) and with rocks.

During my stay it was windless and very hot.

nice food, and relatively cheap. (compared to west-EU)

I haven't seen any watersport activity during my visit, but I guess there must be some good spots...
