Woo News:

WOO Worlds 2022 - The $90.000 Kite Competition for Anyone, Anywhere

Hi Guys,

We are stoked to announce that WOO Worlds is going into round 2, and will take place from September 16 all the way to October 16. :thumb:

Like last year, there are plenty of prizes to win, from cash prizes to amazing kites, bars and boards from our main sponsors. Even some Fenix 7's from Garmin are thrown into the mix.

We have Individual Disciplines (highest jump, distance 1 Hr., total height etc.) as well as the Team Challenges, where you can sign-up and climb the leaderboards together with your buddies (available as Team Total Height - accumulating jump height, Team Total Distance - accumulating distance, and Team Max Height - counting highest jump of the highest participants from your team).

There's plenty of Community Prizes for you to win, too. Take the Kite Lottery, where every kite session uploaded to WOO Worlds via the app - jump session w/ WOO Sensor or GPS Session from Phone / Watch - is one ticket for the lottery, and can thus win you a kite + bar or board from a sponsor. Another chance will be the Mini Challenges spread across the competition period. Those will be smaller, fun events with random challenges that you wouldn't see in a traditional kite competition. Same goes for the Secret Disciplines. Like last year, those will be used to award special things we saw during WOO Worlds (e.g. the youngest participant or the biggest team) that didn't fit into any category. This means really anyone has a chance to walk home with some fresh kite gear.

You will be able to participate using a WOO 3.0 Sensor for the jump-based disciplines, or, even just a Phone or Watch for the GPS-based disciplines.

You can find more information on our Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as our Website https://wooworlds.com/

We hope to see you at WOO Worlds 2022. :bye:

Hang loose,
WOO H.Q.

Does anyone else have problems with posting sessions for this compo?
I have intermittent results..
Some sessions go though and enter the contest and some just get ignored.
So far every session on 15m foil kite and hydrofoil got filtered out..
When I put TT - it gets through
There must be more to it as I see others posting boosting sessions on the foil and even wings..
any ideas?

Hi Deniska,

This is due to the discipline rules. For all jump-based disciplines (Highest Jump, Total Height...) only "Twintip" is allowed as board-type. If you upload a foil session, it won't be a valid submission for those disciplines :)

You can have a look at the full rules and guidelines here: https://wooworlds.com/files/WOOWorldsRules.pdf

Hope this helped,

WOO Worlds Team

just out of curiocity, what would be the reason for filtering out people on surfboards or hydrofoils?
competitive advantage?
why leave them for distance disciplines? most would agree that race hydrofoil would beat TT in 99% of conditions when going for speed/distance.
