Conditions North of Sardinia End of August

Postby vela99 » Tue Aug 16, 2022 3:17 pm

Hi,

I will be on vacation in Arbatax for 10 days from end of August to beginning of September and was wondering about what conditions to expect. Depending on the forecast and comments I may not bother to take my gear with me.

Is there any consistent thermal effect in any of northern spots which create some more or less decent wind wave or is it completely flat?

It is clear to me that the strong winds from the north can create some excellent conditions but these are more frequent in winter.

Thanks upfront!

Vela99 you are Italian asking on an international forum about Sardinia?

At Porto Pollo kite spot arrive a gusty and full of lulls wind greatly enhanced and powered by the Venturi effect of the Bocche di Bonifacio, for this reason is the place in Sardinia with the most number of windy days in the year(and probably among the most windy in Europe together with Tarifa and places in Stretto di Messina) , but if you are looking for waves in summer is not very common, it could happen in Posada and La Caletta when the wind is coming from North... not very often

Archer,

what exactly triggered this remark/question? I am really struggling to understand. Why do you think I am Italian?
And assuming I was Italian, what would be the issue with asking in an international forum?

was just strange, mine was just a question
Vela is Sail in Italian, I'm Italian
assuming you are Italian I believe you would have had better chances asking on an Italian forum or to some teacher, locals or friend of them

Anyway, thanks for your feedback.
