Cool!

Why do companies (e.g. north, airush ) claim to have proprietary, unique materials but when they describe the tech it’s all the same - a material made of weaved dyneema. It even looks the same and exhibits the same mechanical properties.

That is a really interesting read. As far as I know, when Airush and Challenge Sailcloth introduced Ho’okipa at AWSI in 2021 it was the first application of a woven Dyneema leading edge. Both North and Elevate introduced their fabrics in 2022. So, it would have been unique at the time, I don’t believe it was proprietary and they don’t seem to claim that anywhere.

There is more in Ho’okipa here:

I got the chance to test the 10m RS+ the last 2 days in Prea. I also tested the 10m XS as a reference and I have a 9m and 10m Orbit from 2022 as references as well.
I really like the RS+ and according to my surfr app it jumps higher than the 10m Orbit and the 10m XS and it also provides a similar hang time. It rides really well in both powered and slightly overpowered conditions and it turns very fast. Heli loops are very easy and I think it would also perform great in kite loops even though I'm not at a level yet where I pull a kite loop with a 10m being overpowered. Overall the best 10m kite I have tested so far and I'm thinking of getting one for next season. The only unknown would be the durability. But it seems to be more robust than a Duotone SLS for example.

universalflush could you please make a comparative of the 3 kites bar pressure? (I mean which have the lighter bar and the RS+ bar pressure is on the heavy or light side?)

Bar pressure of the RS+ is really light and playful. The order would be like: RS + < Orbit < XS. But all 3 kites don't require a lot of force and the difference is most notable during the kite / heli loops. Even though the bar pressure is light I could always feel the position of the kite.

wow! if RS+ bar is lighter than Orbit bar means is really light!
good you can still feel the position!
Thank you!

I got to try a RS10+ kite for a short run a week ago. It felt quite nice and quick, but probably the only 10m I've ridden. Compared to my 9m orbit I think the orbit has slightly more direct/intuitive bar feel, the pressure ok the RS+ was good but slightly more spongey response, like I could get used to it no problem. Not sure if the bar pressure was lighter or heavier though. Honestly too quick of a test to give a fair judgement. My initial impression was something like this kite feels nice but I still want to ride my orbit
