Naish 2023 Kitesurfing Mag preview - Slash discontinued

Postby magnusod » Tue Sep 13, 2022 11:30 am

Here's the 2023 presentation at Hood River.

Sad to see that the Slash has been dropped from their product line and supposedly is being replaced by Triad. Slash has been a firm favorite of mine for many years and also a kite that almost always got very good reviews. Must have been low sales volumes on maybe both of them or the Slash that made them merge these two models into an updated Triad. Just looked at the product video of Triad but didn't really understood how much that has changed, apart from the wingtip, to puch this model into a wave kite.

maybe if you tried the Triad one day, you could review it on here and compare.

They should really be replacing it with backslash, semicolon and underscore.

I wish, for some reason the retailer in Sweden doesn't stock the 2023 Triad. Maybe they weren't aware that the Slash was discontinued as they always stocked the Slash. That might of course change if the Triad is supposed to be the dedicated wave kite.

Also, my post was mainly about the presentation of the Naish 2023 products. I see now that my post looks more like a moaning post about the discontinued Slash... Sorry about that.

Could anyone post a comparison between the Slash and the Triad for wave riding?

I've been on the Slash platform since inception, Pivot before that. I use a 7m Slash for directional wave riding in cross-on conditions.

I'm interested in comparative turning speed, low end power and drift performance.

Don't really want to change brands but considering a Carve or Reo if Triad doesn't cut the mustard....

Yeah this makes me a bit sad...I am kind of thinking they might have seen that most use the pivot and it works well.
I think this yea it will be a mix of Phoenix, Pivot, and a dusting of boxer. I am interested in the triad for sure, but not sure if I go enough to use it.
