This topic should be less a political discussion, but rather a warning for people traveling to Brazil to know what’s going on. Things can get bad, it’s important for people to be aware to keep an eye on news, which you won’t here in mainstream media.

No one needs to read this topic, only the ones who are planning to travel to Brazil, or already there, to stay updated.
This is the only reason I check in on this thread. Was planning to come visit next year so paying attention to what is going on after the exchange of power. Really could care less about people from outside of Brazil talking politics based on their biases.

I find this an interesting discussion.

There is value in reading this thread, whether going to Brasil, or just seeing what is happening globally with MSM, social media control and election battles.

Not what KF is about, but revealing what is happening in one of the worlds leading kite travel destinations.

I have been for two weeks in Jericoacoara, Ilha do guajiru and now in Paracuru. And I have seen zero political riots - I would be more worried about football hooligans (what I have seen people just watch football on TV and make some noise) :D

As @Toby already said, things can get complicated here on January 1st because it's the date when the convict corrupt, supposedly, elected presidente by the brazilian mainstream media, big techs and supreme court, will start his mandate.

Interior cities will not have any social problems but capitals like, Fortaleza, may have some disturbs.

The boiling point here will probably be in Brasilia, our capital. We already have a bunch of people protesting there and there will be Lula's supporters coming in january 1st.

No riots, and specially not in these areas.
In capitals you will see people on the street in front of the military complexes, no where else yet.

Quiet now, latest 1.1.2023 we will know more. But still to see what happens on Dec 15-19. Didn’t understand exactly what there is, but something could happen.

Brazil already eliminated from World Cup (less one distraction) and today was the diplomation of the corrupt as president.

Alexandre de Moraes, our "supreme God" that worked to elect Lula, demanded the police to arrest an Indigeneous Xavante's chief and we're having some riots in our capital, Brasilia, right now.

The usual excuse: "he was threatening the democracy" for accusing Alexandre de Moraes and telling that Lula will not assume in January 1st.

But there's something fishy about the riots yesterday in Brasília.

Bolsonaro's supporters are usually peaceful. They're peacefully camping in front of military head quarters since 2nd turn finished, about 40 days. It doesn't make sense to start a violent protest just now. Some images, showing people burning cars and buses, in black clothes and masks, remember acts from antifas, here in Brazil there are "black blocs". People that usually infiltrate in protests to start violent actions. It happened just after Lula's diplomation when Alexandre de Moraes in his speech told that he would arrest people that he considered were threatening democracy.

Dark days are coming here in Brazil :'(

So maybe the riot people should get arrested so we will find out the truth about the peaceful protesters? Weeks ago you told the people here there will be riots, now there are riots and now it s not the "nice" Bolsonaro fascists? For real?!

Bolsonaros own words about elections:
“Elections won’t change anything in this country. It will only change on the day that we break out in civil war here and do the job that the military regime didn’t do: killing 30,000. If some innocent people die, that’s fine. In every war, innocent people die.”
