Political situation in Brazil

Postby Toby » Tue Nov 08, 2022 9:06 pm

guys, please keep an eye on the political situation in Brazil if you plan to travel here.

Tomorrow the ministry of defense will publish a report about election fraud. Depending on what they say, things can turn bad in Brazil.
A civil war could happen. The fact, that the ministry of defense is publishing it, is already a sign about what is to come...

Foreign media isn't reporting about what is already going on (people are calling the military), and lots of information gets pulled from Instagram.
Look up Tik Tok instead, if you want to see what is really going on. Just saw there a video where military vehicles are getting into position...

While things in the south of Brazil should stay pretty calm, in the Northeast it could get wild.

I will post updates about what is happening.

Thank’s for the head’s up. Please keep us posted for your region (north of Fortaleza).

Yep, all the news are quite old
https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/protester ... -1.6638703
"Police said 688 roadblocks had been cleared across the country, though roads remained blocked or partially blocked in 17 of Brazil's 26 states, most notably in farm states like Santa Catarina and Mato Grosso, where Bolsonaro has strong popular support." south states?
Is there anything happening in Ceara?

I have a flight to Fortaleza in two weeks :-o
I hope the situation calms down by then

What is it with far-right bootlicker clowns and the inability to accept election results?

So you would advise to not come visit in the next two weeks then? I have no appetite for all this if you actually feel like there could be some issues. When might we know more details?

I guess you are not in Brazil ?

Sounds like foreign press.

It’s a different reality in Brazil.

We shall know more soon.

Let’s see what happens tomorrow.

Then another 48 hours…and then you can decide.

Look up Tik Tok, lots of videos about what is going on here…no other media will show this (Instagram heavily censored, also main press, and foreign press has no clue or doesn’t want to support it)

Booked this flight on points so we'll see what they say tomorrow regarding cancelation. Figured it'd be more chill in the small cities and crazy in the big ones.

Be happy it’s in two weeks. Until then you know if you can come or not.

State of Ceara is a hot spot of Lulistas, which means if fights start, it will hit here harder than other states.

Please note, it’s not my opinion, it’s what I hear from friends and my girl, who are Brazilians. My girl is following tik tok the whole day, so I know what’s going on. All my other foreign friends here don’t know anything, since the foreign media says nothing about what is happening.

Stay tuned

Smaller villages along the coast should be fine.

Away from big cities…Cumbuco is close to Caucaia (a PT capital and home of many bandits) and Fortaleza.

If chaos happens, I am sure they will plunder whatever they can…I am happy to live in the center, and not in a single house outside the center…

Problem will be: if things happen, borders will be closed, flights cancelled.

And, maybe internet will be cut…anyone with a star link terminal coming here?
