Now starting to get somewhere.

Try 0.4.1 out
https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/ca00 ... 9c8308d865

Added speedgate filter to ignore all stationary jumps, and added 2.5 meter minimum jump height to avoid tall people registering jumps when they touch their toes.
So got a good deal on a Garmin watch.
Downloaded the app.
Do you have to calibrate it every session
I think so. I think this is one of the key features. It calibrates based on the sea state so that you don't get phantom jumps just riding over the kickers like you do with Woo.

Re: Garmin app to measure jump height

I tried this app on my Fenix 6 pro for the first time yesterday. After a few 1/2 mile runs I did my first jump - recorded 4m height (winds were 11-12 knots on flat water and I was on my 21m Speed 5). During my 1-1/2 hour session it recorded only 8 jumps whereas I jump at least once on each run. I'm not sure if the jumps were too "stationary". I think that several were over 4m high.

So I am wondering what the criteria for stationary is? Is it less than 5m, 10m? May have made a difference in recording my jumps. Also, does the app use the full GPS (GPS +GLONASS) and data recording every second? Also, my jumps are not "explosive" in light winds so the accelerometer may not be triggered for those jumps and with my Speed 5 my landings are very light so that may be a factor as well.

After I synced with Garmin Connect the app showed the highest jump and the longest jump. It also showed the highest jump record and longest jump record which are apparently switched as the highest jump record showed 26.3m which was the longest jump distance. I've never jumped over 20m, perhaps in my dreams maybe. :D

Also, as previously mentioned it would be nice to show the time of day and to have the jump data stay on the watch face longer after a jump.

There is new version of the app, complete rewrite and multiple optimisations listed. So feedback is important, unfortunately skiing season for me and can not help at the moment :(

What is a minimum/cheapest garmin watch that this app can work on?

If this is anything like their wave tracking you'll need the Fenix 7 sapphire solar to get decent accuracy. It's a $1K watch new but often on ebay for much less.

The reason is the AG3335M dual band gps chip. Garmin's wave tracker didn't at all for me when using lower model watches but with the upgraded chip it identifies every ride perfectly.

I haven't been kiting much (no wind for a few months) so can't say if it's the same story here (but I bet it is)

So it based on GPS signal only ? Accelerometer, on the wrist?

I've just tried it yesterday for the first time, on Garmin Venu, was showing some random measurements + was unstable in general.
