Ion Safety Notice

Postby aitorlopezosua » Mon Dec 05, 2022 1:06 pm

Ion release buckles VI to be replaced. I cracked two of those in a period of a month 2 Years Ago, not sure if the safety notice should be quicker.

Be aware, spread it, stay safe.

Release Buckle VI
Your safety is our utmost priority. Even with the greatest diligence and foresight technical problems with materials can, unfortunately, not be completely ruled out.

Because it cannot be assured beyond doubt that the built quality of some few units conforms to the expected lifespan, we advice to replace all Releasebuckles generation six.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION
The Releasebuckle is connecting the harness to the spreader bar. Following a comprehensive quality test program, we have found that some of the buckles are deviating from our set standard and can be prone to breakage in extreme high load situations or/and extensive use. A broken buckle will result in the harness opening involuntarily posing a considerable risk of injury.

IS MY BUCKLE AFFECTED?
Affected are all Releasebuckles VI with two joints. Please see the explanatory illustrations below.

Furthermore, the Releasebuckles are identified by the webbing puller. Only the affected buckle features this textile part.

These Releasebuckles were exclusively mounted on 2020 and 2021 waist and seat harnesses.

Only the C-Bar 2.0 and C-Bar 3.0 Spreaderbar can have an affected buckle.

Only the following kite harnesses can have an affected buckle:

Riot Curv 14 - 2020/21
Riot CS 20 - 2020
Riot 9 - 2021
Apex 8 - 2021
Apex Curv 13 - 2020/21

Nova 6 - 2021
Nova Curv 10 - 2020/21
Sol Curv 11 - 2020/21
Sol 7- 2021
Radar - 2021
Sonar - 2021
B2 - 2021

HOW TO PROCEED
Go to any ION Dealer of your choice. They will exchange the buckle and upgrade to the newest version free of charge. This is the easiest and fastest option.

Can’t go to a shop? Contact us via customerservice@ion-products.com or via the contact form provided below. Please add a picture of your buckle to your message. We will send you the replacement buckle free of charge.

This is nonsense.

My clasp failed at the start of this year, I reported it to Ion and all they said was "we will send you a new one" I have chased them 3 times since and have been told that when they are in stock I will get one. I have a spare so can kite but the fact they haven't acknowledged this until now is a joke.

Last time I spend my money with Ion
