Surfr is fine tucked into your wetsuit. I use a £3 waterproof case from ebay, it works fine.
I've had a lot of woo's over the years, and they all break. Also, I think you're better off rolling a couple of D6 dice and using that as height in meters, rather than the woo. Both the surfr and woo seem pretty random.... but they give you a general idea of how the seesion went.

Waiting for the surfr board mount to be re-stocked, it doesn't seem reasonable to get separate device. When I can use my phone instead.

A community member @dachopper1 is at the final stages of development of an app for Garmin watches that tracks jump metrics alongside all other (usual)details of your session. It might be looking into this instead of investing in additional HW? Here is the thread:
Garmin app to measure jump height

I have a Woo and also use Surfr. If my Woo break, I won't buy a new one. I have almost the same result with Surfr (very accurate and reliable) and with the same metrics (height, distance, speed...).

Woo has won with PIQ because of the community that chose Woo over PIQ. Its the same now if your mates are using Woo and you want to compare your results with them than Woo is better if you just want to see height for yourselves than Surfr is probably better/cheaper.
I use woo to see if I progress my jumps, don't really care about community hence will more to Surfr if Woo breaks down. One thing to remember Woo is fixed fee for hardware and then its free with Surfr they can start to charge for app anytime to recover cost.

Surfr for me on Apple Watch. I never even installed my last mount. Before they had solved their quality issues they had already launched the Apple Watch app.
If not inside wetsuit.

I use the Surfr app with my phone in my wetsuit. It is free, easy to share, no need to install nothing on your board and in case something goes wrong you already have your phone with you.
