Beginner advice with first hand purchased bar

Postby funkwave » Mon Jan 30, 2023 3:40 pm

Hi all,

Sorry for disturbing with this stupid question, I'll try to be short. I just purchased online a Cabrinha Overdrive Bar 2022 and as it is a considerable investment for me I was wondering if its lines are fine to be first-hand, as I see a quite thin part along the white line. I guess it's normal but it was just unexpected for me. I have attached two pictures.

Thanks a lot in advance,
Antonio

Hi, any question is welcome!

I am not familiar with this bar, but looking at it it looks ok to me. It's thinner, which means it odes not look like it needs to take a lot of load...and some part is thicker of it because it has been spliced.
Compare it to the gray lines, which are much thicker...there the load of the lines go to.

Agree with Toby. That thin section is the actual line diameter, the thick section is where the line was spliced. Line splicing (verb: splice) is how people make joints or termination in the line. The splice is normal, all the Cabrinha bars designed with a splice in that location should look the same.

Don’t know the bar but could It be an internal bungee ? It tapers at both ends and does not appear to be a bury from a loop!

The thick part is a spliced bungee (elastic cord) which contracts the safety line when you pull the trim (depower) so the opposite end where your safety leash is connected doesn't hang out from the QR.

The safety line is actually just a bit thicker than the flying lines.
