Just got in from a session where I unlocked a new trick. Unhooked kiteloop. Heard a snap. Then fell out of the sky. Luckily had a wee bit of catch before the ragdoll. 17015890338862010501437046647376.jpg

No sign of the chicken loop at all after probably 10x on what's so far been the nicest bar I have ridden. Cabrinha Operating System. The auto untwist is fab but wtf.
I find that very disturbing that both sides of the qr would release.
What release? Looks like it just broke. Or, a failure where the chicken loop was “permanently” attached (then got lost in the crash) - as opposed to an unintended release where the chicken loop remains attached to the QR.
Well one or both sides failed. I find that disturbing.

If the quick release side failed, then I suppose the chicken loop could have twisted out.

If chicken loop twisted out first, I would expect to still see it clicked in

Unless they both failed at the same time.

I find any of those scenarios disturbing.

Wow. This is frightening. Probably worth posting as a bar specific thread to alert people. Would be very interested to hear Cabrinha's response.

Both side open is the big issue. I would find it "thinkable", that one side fails. Because some problem with the mechanism, not nice but production or handling errors do happen.

But both sides opening in error at the same time means, both sides failed at some incident, which can only be "overload? I don't know how it works, but I would guess one side should stay on - I see it can be changed "tool less", how is it fixed? - and only the other side should open when QR is pushed?

Was hooked in originally of course. Was a boring ass 5m kiteloop. No rotations. No huge raley.

I have no idea what happened but might go look for the missing piece next time there is a king low tide. No signs of damage to the release. It looks as new.

Sending it back to cabby

Will add that Carbrinha have been very good at the support side of things from this issue. Bars sorted. Thanks team. It's good to know that techs are indeed reading these forums and making improvements based on rider feedback.

I've now had Naish, North, Core, Eleveight, Ozone and Cabrinha bars fail (often spectacularly) on me in the last couple of years, but at least we are not in the old days when bars used to split in half mid jump. Knowing how to keep calm and crash well when things go wrong is underrated.

Note: If anyone needs a bar tester. We kite hard in New Zealand
