Difference between Ozone Enduro V1 and later versions

Postby Vibone » Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:19 pm

I bought my two Enduros in 2017 (12 Mt and 8 Mt).

Let me start by saying that these are kites that I have used very little.

About 30 exits with the 12 Meters and 6 exits with the 8 Meters.

But now given the years that I have kept them in the bag (perfectly maintained), I was wondering if after all these years it is time to update them.

I was wondering should I keep them and use them or buy a newer version?

What difference did you find with the Enduro V2, V3, V4 compared to the V1?

A thousand thanks

If they're good, I'd keep them, unless you WANT new kites.
Apart from graphics and small changes here and there, the main difference between V1 and V3 is the use of fast flow strut connectors. Some early V1s had cracking valve issue also.
Don't know if v2 have fast flow connectors already, never used one.
V4 you can read on Ozone website, but main difference is the continues curve. Is it noticeable, don't know haven't used one yet.
There is a product archive section on ozone website if you want to read their marketing stuff and some kite specs from previous versions.

Thank you so much for your feedback Ham-er.

Just the other day, I took both kites out of the bag, took them out into the garden, inflated them and I have to say they look pristine new to the eye.

I'll briefly explain how I store them.

After each outing (always in the garden) I inflate them and remove the sand if present... above all with a bucket of fresh water and a kitchen towel, I delicately pass over the entire surface of the kite to remove the saltiness.

I let them dry and put them in the bag (I wash this in the washing machine at least every 3 months).

The fabric is still shiny... so the kites look new to me.

Calculate that where I live (in Italy - Tuscany) the winds to which the kites are subjected are 13/20 knots in summer and 20/25 knots in winter.

Plus it's rare that I leave the kites on the beach to bake in the sun.

I inflate them just long enough to go to sea, then once the session is over I deflate them and put them back in the bag.

I'm not interested in having new kites...

So in your opinion is it better to simply have a set of bladders and valves for both sizes?

P.s.: I think (but I don't remember exactly) that I bought them in May 2017, one year after the Ozone Enduro V1 2016 launch

Sounds like you take good care of them. They will last you a few more years easily. I still have and use my 8m kite from 2012 and is still fine, although it's not crisp anymore and had a few repairs still flies fine.

Spare set of bladders is not a bad shout as with time they will become more difficult to obtain, but not necessary if you don't have any leaks.

Newer bar or lines are a good investment.

Have fun with them :D

Hi Vibone,

here what people that have used them told me over time:

V1 the more raw
V2 a little less raw and more stable with very good jump
V3 very stable, little less raw with jumps less higher
V4 lighter, less drag thanks to the continuous curve leading edge and the traverse sail shaping, kind of new era, stable and big jumps!
V5 maybe with ultra X lighter materials?

Every Version have incremented gradually the wind range
