Evo sls 2022 vs North Reach 2023

Postby Jakubpar » Sat Feb 03, 2024 6:20 pm

I've been considering getting a new set of kites for the next season. I'm choosing between the reach and evo sls. I do mostly hooked freestyle and try to get into big air. In my spot the wind ranges from 15/25 kts.
What do you think I should get?

The evo sls for this better than the reach, which will be the faster kite.would probably go for orbit instead of reach at north. Buy the reach one meter bigger than evo sls or orbit

Since the orbit is 5 strut I think it is bit heavier than the reach. I've heard that the orbit is better than the reach in more windy conditions because it's more stable, however in my spot it tends to not be so much wind. So in my opinio it will be slower. Therefore I think I would benefit more from the reach.
Please correct me if I'm wrong

What size u thinking to buy? Because personally would not buy a five strut larger than 10-11. A dice sls is also very nice in bigger size 11-12m

I agree with you. If you kite more in low winds the Reach is the better kite since it is faster, lighter and therefore has a better low end. The Orbit is better with stronger and gustier wind since it's more stable. The catch with the 2023 Reach is that it is a 2022 Model rebranded into 2023 since they did not release a new Reach last year and I heard that the 2024 model has improved a lot. I never tried the Evo SLS so I can't give you a comparison but I don't like the build quality of the earlier SLS Models.

Most likely 9m or something close to it.

In that size i would go, in case u choose duotone for a evo sls. I would go orbit if north. In bigger sizes would go for the dice

Orbit police on kite forum will steer any question about choosing kite to Orbit as better option 😂

Some of my friends riding duotone also complain about the quality of the lines and durability of the kite. However, some praise the performance and have no issues with the quality Personally I've only ridden the basic versions of the duotone kites (evo, neo, dice, rebel) and didn't see any issues but the kites didn' blow me away. But I've never tried the sls or dlab.
