New kite gear from Gong

Postby mati » Sun Feb 11, 2024 9:29 pm

There are a few teasers from Gong, showing new kite gear expected to be releases in the near future.
At least a new 3-struts kite, a new bar and a twin tip and its bindings are expected.
Some people also say that a new version of the Unik is close to be released.

@nixmatters discovered that there would also be a 5-struts coming.

I like the overall shape of this kite, thin bladders, not too much deep profile... Need more views angle to be sure, and mostly what type of bridle, if there are pulleys, how are they are used.

Thats some of the most deeply pretentious and overproduced marketing vomit I’ve seen in a long time.

One thing for sure is, they are throwing cash around and growing

Nice, I like GONG beacuse they are a no bullshit company. They just state all the materials used, and reasoning behind, the thicknes of TPU, the Weight of Dacron etc.
Quality / life of a GONG kite is just good, nothing wrong.

I just hope they rework again, the strutless kite series, I have spend tremendous nr of hours in tuning and setting new Pully Briddel for the Struttless V3 and V4 kites and lot can be gained.
Personally I like the V3 strutless bit better than V4, it has bit better drift/balance in the air. Whilst the V4 can generate slight bit more speed and upwind. For the V4, the 5m with the lower AR is best of series. The upwind and downwind whilst keep good drift is just fantastic. The V3 the 6m is my favorite and most used best allround kite for foil. (indeed with new briddles, as want to be able to dump all pull and have super tight turns)

I hope they bring new strutless models, slightly lower AR, (and indeed pully briddle) also small models like a 4m.

yep typical useless marketing video. Show the damn new gear, up close :D

I'm a fan of gong gear. I have been using their strutless v2 kite and gong kitefoil. Cheap and good. We will see is going to be still cheap in the future.
Interesting to see how their 5 strut kite handles high winds. Can it compete against edge, xr etc.
