I'm looking at a 169 as a first board, so I'm interested to hear people's opinions of Litewave in general.

I weigh 65kg and fly a Wipika Hydro 9m

The 169 is great but a little bit heavy: very good planning and u can still handle it if there is too much wind for your kite. But the best thing is that it seems undestructible! Not like most of the other boards... The 181 is deffinitely too heavy to jump but its really good with really light winds.

LW 169 is a nice bomb-proof board to learn the basics on, then trade it in for something a bit more exotic as you progress..

I started out on the 169, great starter board and very durable. About right for your size to start out with, too.

Also check the search option for this one, there has been a lot of user-reviews on the LW here not so long ago.

Litewaves are bombproof boards. I had the 148 and 169 last season. You can ride it into the water right off the beach. Only, negative is they are a little heavy.

The Pitbull is a top board. I have the '02 version, and am yet to put a scratch on it despite serval encounters with the shingle. Rides like a dream. If you do decide to get one you won't regret it.

Cheers,

The 169 was great for my first season, and will probably be kept as my light wind board after I get something smaller. Ditto most other comments -- bombproof, bit heavy, etc. One thing not mentioned, for lighter riders (I'm 65kg), when the wind picks up (past 20) it can be difficult to keep and edge. Switching to a smaller kite helps, but the 169 has a natural upper wind limit...

You might also consider something shorter and wide, like a Smorgasboard or Magic Carpet. They're said to plane just as quickly, but, being shorter and thinner, should be easier to control on the high end.
