For my next project I'm building a smaller board for riders 30-40 kg, or kids around 8-12 years old.

Same construction as my bigger boards, i.e. ABS rails and spine, foam core, glass reinforcement.
Size is 98cm x 31cm, outline is a fairly standard board shape, static rocker will be about 3cm.

Thickness is going to be 10mm in the centre, 5mm on the rails (thickness of the ABS). The tips will be just the 5mm ABS which will hopefully make them nice and flexy.

Layup will be from top to bottom:
  • 120gsm glass (90 gsm 0 deg, 30gsm 90 deg)
    graphics
    220gsm alutex (+45 deg, -45 deg)
    10mm divinycell H80
    220gsm alutex (+45 deg, -45 deg)
    graphics
    120gsm glass (90 gsm 0 deg, 30gsm 90 deg)
    0.8mm P-Tex base
Construction will be resin infusion. I'm guessing the final weight will be around 1.5kg.

I got the ABS back today. This is going to be fun! :D

Finally got around to this project again. Kerry and I did the prep over the last few evenings. Everything is in the bag and the vacuum drop test looks good.
Tomorrow evening we'll do the infusion.

Here's the core.

Very nice , did you have to prep the rail for the epoxy to stick ?

Yes, but nothing too complicated. Just clean with isopropyl alcohol, roughen with 6 grit (yes, as in 06 grit) paper, and clean again.

Infusion went without drama. Covered with a heat blanket and will take it out tomorrow night.
