These are perfect all rubber flexible for the end of the bar so the lines never rub on carbon and possibly break at some point also very light setup compared to epoxy end https://www.ebay.ca/itm/10-x-Grommets-P ... xyBvZTWUr-

The grommets look cool. I would terminate the lines with loops all the way around the bar still though instead of a stopper knot.

Tried that 1st with some extra smaller bridle lines the hole was to small to get them to fit snug the splice wouldn’t fit in...was loose... just enough to fit this 2.7mm dynema it’s good for 1600lbs got plenty strength left after the 8 knot..

Great work!!!

On paper my own bar is almost done. Just the lines haven't arrived yet. :-)

If I may ask:
Why the rubber tubing below the clamcleat?
Why no splice for the rope on top of the clamcleat?
Interesting idea to use a low friction part (Ronstan?) instead of a block to redirect the depower line. Do you know the load specifications of this part?
Why did you not use a rope but a strap for the QR part?

Thanks!

The rubber tubing below the clam cleat is the bar stopper...instead of clamping something on the main line/tube it all rests against the clam cleat ...all held in place with those blue silicone tube washer things made from tube had laying around that are tight around the line and hopefully more cushion on the bar...and will probably cut down the tube a bit for perfect bar throw when 1st test it...and the black part (see pic)(PT Link) u are talking about came with the clam cleat.. much easier not sure if possible to have it inside splice and 80% of that rope is still 1300lbs not to worried lol...and the red things are from old cabrinha bar..big round plastic washers...and the QR strap was already made... it was from old ocean rodeo leash... :thumb:
Or are u talking about this MBL is 770lbs
Won’t be riding these bars super lit or could have used 2 still have extra one..

OK, but why use the transparent tube at all? Just cut the blue rope to the length/throw you want add a cushion and off you go?!

No, that part is just to align the rope. It doesn't hold any force and is not crucial should it fail. I am referring to the red part that redirects the powerline on top.

Oh, it's a prebuilt QR. I wasn't aware.

Yes. I just looked it up. Seems to work with 175kg and breaks at 350kg. It sure looks and feels tiny (2.5 grams).

I will use a small block (250kg, breaks at 550kg - https://www.hodgesmarine.com/Ronstan-Se ... f20101.htm ) instead to make the depower as smooth as possible and match the breaking load of the powerlines (600kg) a little closer. :D

Also, looking at this on a bigger screen, it seems you are using a suboptimal clam cleat.

The way your lines are running a cobra cleat ( https://www.clamcleat.com/cobra-cleat.html ) would be a better fit.

It was difficult to predict the exact bar throw after splicing so now can just cut the tube at the exact place for perfect bar throw didn’t want to have to much and not be able to reach...and yea realized using the clam cleat from the top down be very hard to reach so went from bottom up that cleat would be much better but already have 2 of these might as well use them or they would just collect dust...and for my other bar ordered one of these (see pic) from local ozone dealer

That is why I went with this one https://www.clamcleat.com/products/clea ... 1-mk2.html . Very flexible in determining the optimal throw without the need to cut, splice, etc. until you find what you need. You may even change throw for different kites if you care about that.

I also looked at the ozone part but then decided a block would be my preferred solutions in terms of ease of handling and simplicity.

Let us know how this setup works out for you. Can't wait to read it! :thumb:
