Wicked nice build! That is a board to be proud of, and very practical.
Thanks for posting.

Awesome build. I do worry that you have created a stress riser at the plate end. I would have radiused the carbon reinforcement so dispersion the stress loading away from the plate.

Nice work. I've been thinking about making a split hydrofoiling board.
I was thinking a plate on top and bottom.
The one on the bottom would extend under the hydrofoil mast plate and forward and the one on top would be flush with the deck pads, but only in the middle like your plate.
My board will be made with foam Core
Have to think about it.
Yeah two plates would be fine. They wouldn't need to be thick at all since they would be on both sides of the board. Like 300gsm carbon skins might even be enough.

I've tried to mitigate that by tapering the plate but yeah a radius on the inside edge of the plate edge would not hurt. Thanks for the tip!

I did some measuring and marking on my foil board last night.
The bottom part that goes under the plate could be 200mm wide and 700mm long.
If I make it with laminated veneer wood Core like 5 mm thick and cover it with uniD cf and glass, taper thickness towards nose. I would fasten the 675mm long board halves to it. Sort of like the Shinn approach.
Then with 2 small plates on top 50mm wide x 150 mm, close to each rail.
This keeps the deck plate out of the way of the front foothook I use.
I'm concerned this whole thing will bee too heavy.
And how for I pack a 93cm mast with plate??

It's going to add weight, that much is unavoidable. Like at least 500g to 800g.
And unless you have a way of removing the plate from the mast, packaging is going to be a problem..

2 thoughts for you Tom.
Why not make a 93cm board not split?
Or don't split down the middle 93cm gives you your foot stance and foil attachment. Make a bolt on nose. That way it doesn't need the strength of a half split board. It just needs to withstand touch downs. Less reinforcement, less bolts, less weight.

Plummet,
Interesting thought. 93cm just enough to get the mast on, and hooks.
Nose would be about 400mm long.
Needs a lot more thought and design it to fit a particular bag or suitcase..

Removed about 300g from the top strap (plate).
Plus I think it also looks a bit more kick-ass
