Torsional flex - now a good thing :-)

Postby rynhardt » Tue Oct 02, 2018 7:18 am

Just as we had the move from stiff boards (down the length of the board) to flex boards a few years ago, there's now the same thing with regard to the torsional flex.

What do you think? Are there real benefits or is it just marketing BS?

I for one wouldn't mind having rich landings

Absolute horse sh*t as always. Plus i didn't see the phrase 'game changer' so it's obviously not anything worth worrying about... ;)

North/Duotone. You can tell but the board, font, layout and colors. Oh yeah, and the logo on the fins :D

I'd reserve judgement until I'd had a ride, or someone who know what they're talking about had a ride, but wouldn't that just suck up energy when you try to load the edge? Losing it to the twist?

Maybe they just made a real wobbly pile of crap and now they've done a full production run, are just trying to get ahead of the inevitable complaints

usual recent kite industry stuff.. reduce costs as the market shrinks

$5 an hour intern has giant turd polished by marketing department - includes outright lies

get a grip! lol

noodle.. a board with random characteristics that has lost its pop due to lacking/ spongy flex.. out of the box!

what a funny industry!

In the picture a third from the left on the heel edge there is a big deformation in shape. Same toeside a third from the right. Those deformations are very draggy in water.
To deform the heelside trailing edge downward by applying more left trailing foot heel pressure than front foot pressure would develop a weird diagonal concave and the toeside leading edge would be slightly lower an more vulnerable to catching chop.

The twisting would only be between the foot placements, not the far ends.

It's marketing candyfloss with no substance in my opinion.

When they talk about flex they don't mean that amount of deformation. The picture is to show what kind of torsion they mean.

Still smells strong of marketing though.
