The smart folks on here will tell you that you want a largely symmetrical layup top and bottom (I-beam concept). In terms of how much - my not-smart gut feeling is that 12oz of glass top and bottom over 6 oz of carbon AND cedar stringers should be pretty sturdy. Disclaimer - gut feeling :) Let us know how it goes. I'm almost ready to start cutting blanks for a pocketboard :)

I would have another 1/2 length of 6oz carbon from tail. So top laminate is cf 1/4 length, 1/2 length, full length + 2 layers 6os glass wrapped on rails. Same on bottom.
You are not using unidirectional carbon so only 3oz of it is providing beam strength. But you have those stingers so should be ok.
If it breaks, build a new one!

The patches of carbon are kind of wasteful. As soon as you break up the laminate into sections you are not helping the beam.

Finely finished my pocket board, just under 3kg, 107cm x 46cm x 3.5 cm. Straight hand layup no vacuum bagging. XPS foam, 2 cedar stringers, 2 layers carbon and 2 layers glass then paint. Love how the boxes turned out, PLAYDOUGH ROCKS, filled the boxes with it then carbon/glassed over, then routered them out.

I put the foot Hook/strap insert in after I pegged the carbon to the board then glassed over x2, the florescent play dough was easy to see, plus the board is painted cant tell I did that.

I was wondering how you find the foot strap inserts after glassing in the board with the multiple inserts in hi density foam ?

Yes ,it XPS. I made 3 layers 160 g glass, and 200g carbon. Additionally extra patches in inserts place, and tracs top and bottom.
No painting. Its epoxy resin with microballons and pigment Image

Why anyone would choose Xps as core vs Eps is not understood.
Any breach of water proofing, even tiny dings, and open cell will drink like its 1999!
Closed cell extruded can be bought for next to nothing, or if stronger core is wanted airex, or other can be used.
And rails?
I, we have built 7 boards or so, would never even consider rails, but then again we know where our STRUT should
be mounted on board, and strapless most of the time, if foot hooks or straps wanted added AFTER wing delta "V" set for placement.
Stringers, why?
Moment of inertia if understood and correct carbon weight choice makes this just not needed.
I like just a little volume so use 4 cm thick also aides well rounded rails for safety, but 2 cm board, 2 Ks, holding up well even jumped.
1 k Quadri (amazing stuff if understood how to get epoxy correct) as Box or plate layup extending to front foot placement about half board width
has proved effective. Of course exact same lay up top and bottom, vac sack sure!
300g standard carbon used on the rest, although rails can be tricky if one is not patient.
Cut offs from S U Paddles, thin carbon tubes, cut perfect to fit in between top and bottom for thru M6 prevent compression.
All our boards get well used, no failures.
