Do you know a place where you can buy Airex sheets online in canada or US?
I have been building boards with cheap foam from DIY stores but would like to try Airex (or similar light, high density foam) on the next one.
Thanks!

Merl, very clever.
Wish I could get 3- 5mm paulonia. I can get 18mm and Mill it down, but too much waste.
The balsa board is built with 2,5mm ( high density balsa) and 3 layers of 8mm light balsa.
I'm building one now of 3 x 8mm light balsa. Hope to save 400g.
The planks i buy are easily available, I think all over the world. 100 x 1000mm. My Swedish online dealer stocks many thicknesses and in 3 densities.
If you build a board that's 1000mm or under, I recommend this approach. Very little waste and eco friendly. If you use an eco epoxy and flax on outside, you're as close to eco as you get. Use it for 10 years and you are doing more to use resources well.
If you want over 1000mm you have to diagonally scarf the planks, a bit more waste, but not much.
I don't use flax because it covers the wood look. I'm also wondering what's wrong with the glass fiber from an environmental perspective, it's glass. Ok a mineral, not renewable. Flax is a plant, renewable. I'd like to see a full lifecycle analysis.
In my work with consumer electronics and sustainability, I've learned toxicity is mainly a problem with production environment/worker safety and disposal, energy consumption of Base materials and life time of use has massively more impact on LCA.
Did you know 95% of the energy consumption of a smartphone is in the chip sets? This is over life of product including the power you use to charge it. It's not intuitive.

This one is for my wife. Weighs 1807 g with pad and front strap inserts. Not as stiff as previous one, but holds my 90 kg good, wife is 60. It is made of airex c70.55 with ud cf 230g/m2 and 240 g/m2 cf skin.

Thank you very much for the photos and for the explanation.
I'm going to buy one of these to have my first foil and build a board.
