Do you ride with the line above the bar or below the bar? I have seen both ways around (and I wonder if it makes a difference).
I like to see things and have it on top. Didn't try below - I don't think it makes much difference. Friction will be more on the bar, less on the half ring, if below.

With line below the bar you can grip the bar in the middle for one-handed steering.

Have you guys tried to make a bar from a 25mm outer diameter and 21mm inner diameter carbon tube and then in the middle and inside of it glue say 10cm long 21mm diameter full aluminum rod which has a hole for the depower rope? For foiling one doesn’t need extra strong bar, so would this work?

I’ve made 2 bars so far:
- First one is 20mm outside, 14mm inside, no grip, adjustable bar length without tools, 56-48cm, alu center piece for rope.
-second one is 15mm outside, 9mm inside, planning to put grip on, alu center piece for click bar square section depower.
I’m working now on a third one, 20mm, no grip. Alu center piece, 52cm fixed length.

Great, thanks. May I ask where did you find the 20/14mm carbon tubes, please?

Do not forget about the Carbon fibre bike handlebar option. They are cheap, super strong and the ergonomics of the shape is amazing. I have 4 now and haven't used a straight carbon bar since.

Can you put a picture of the aluminium insert?
I'm going crazy to find something to insert in the hole made in the center of my carbon bar.
Thanks

Hi omg,
regarding the carbon bar I'll be very happy to share my provider contact via pm, not sure I'm allowed to post a link here? if it's ok I'll post it in here, in order to be available to everyone.
I believe that 20mm external diameter gives you enough comfort to grab it (unless you're a big guy) and 3mm walls should guarantee durability and stiffness. New one will come with a 3k twill finish
I'll show new picture in the future when the project will be finished.

Sure you can post a link! Judging by the weight of commercial custom carbon bars I don't think people are using more than 2mm thickness so 3mm should be bomber. Evan Mr Infexion might care to comment as he has been very generous with information.

My carbon bar provider is carbosix (
https://www.carbosix.it/it/portfolio-item/tubi/), difference of weight between 20/14 and 20/16 is only 30/40g depending by the lenght, so rather go for the stiffest/most durable one.
