I've got a new - old stock - Flexifoil Hadlow bar but the safety is useless so converting to Ozone type.

The Flexi lines are a nightmare though - they are some weird weave that doesn't open up enough.

I managed to get the critical front sliding line spliced but probably compromised it a bit with the sheer effort involved. I kid you not - I probably spent about 5 hours on what should be a 2 minute job.

Has anyone found a way to to do it or experienced this issue?

I must applaud to you, i gave up way earlier to my splicing effort of those lines as it seemed impossible with the tools I have for splicing. Even the manufacturer listed them as unspliceable.

They are weaved this way to make them more rounded and extra tough to bend/fold. Just find some other lines or sleeve them.

I was determined to get one done so I could get the sliding safety working. If not for that I would have given up a lot sooner.

I now have a nagging suspicion I've weakened the most important line! It'll be fine for the coming season at least - I'll address it next year. Left an oshit handle on just in case anyway so should be fine...

You can only splice 12 strand weave. 4 strand and 8 strand you can't splice. What I usually do with these sorts of lines is to buy some sleeves (you can buy any braided line of the right size and pull out the core or paracord of the right size), sleeve the ends and then figure 8 a loop at the end. Of course you can't use it to go through a single line center safety so you'll have to figure out how to deal with that, you can make a 10m leader of 12 strand if you like, or you can make a super long figure 8 on the unsplicable line, that will fit through the safety. Basically you have to treat this like it's q-powerline and make figure 8's. Don't forget to sleeve when you figure 8 the line! You can also sew a sleeve on the end but that I think is a bit less strong than a sleeved figure 8. 4 and 8 strand lines are kind of annoying, but with a bit of trouble you can find a way to use them. Oh yeah another option is to feed the line through the safety first and then sleeve the end and then make the figure 8. I usually don't use this method because I swap my lines around and the only way to get that line off is to undo the figure 8.

You can, but you shouldn't. You only get max 60% breaking strength on those lines.

One of reasons duotone lines break that easy

Where it breaks then? Or it just slip and then and load brummel or stitch?
