Pocket Board (HF) Layup Question

Thank you all again. After viewing more projects this is my current plan, please advise what do you think:

115x48x3 board

3x6oz deck
1x6oz deck strip
XPS 3cm or 4cm core - TBD
2 pine stringers up to the rocker of 8x30mm
2x6oz patches around mast area
3x6oz bottom

Plan is to use bigHead as inserts AFTER lamination.
For rocker its either two layers of 2cm XPS over rocker table or 3 cm with steps carved to form a 6-7cm rocker.

Hmmm,

Xps is degassing. There is a reason why white foam is used 99% of time, its stable. Plus cost.

You would be way better off to put a layer of thin wood on top or bottom or both. Even a veneer would do.

Thats to prevent dents which will ultimately delam the core from glass.

Than u could use less glass/cf and save money/weight etc.

3layers glass to go at once is not for beginners. It takes time to master this.

Double check the weight of all, plus resin. Than add 20-30% on top if not using a vac. Carbon with no vac is degassing trouble.

I see u 100kegs? Man, u need a 12cm thick I-beam board.

And that I-beam u can imagine as rail tracks, wide on top, narrower on bottom. Thats how the race boards are built.

Simply put, one hit to sea bottom with a wing nose will rip the inserts out because of your weight and the leverage you are placing on the board. Not ideal. Thicker the board more chances not to rip it.

Plan is to go one layer at a time, deck-bottom-deck... over the rails.I've got time to let it fully cure beforenext layer

Is 3cm that thin? Even with dual stringers?

Do all your layers at once on each side. WIll be lighter and stronger.

Can you share some details of the race board I-beam construction you mention.

The race boards are mostly thick coz of tuttle mast connection. But, not all racers are 100kgs Boards are still very light, obviously.

My mate built both. Yes, both winning foilboards on this pic, very strong.

What no one is telling you is that 6oz carbon is not that "playable" as FG on above video. That FG is btw probably 120-140g/m2 or less.

Hence, even a poor mans vac will do wonders with carbon in 160-180g/m2 weight. Not a full vacuum tho, because it will squash XPS.
