I've only done one board this way. I degassed the resin, poured it on, diagonally brushed it out and then laid peel ply down, using squeegee to get it even.
Important to have no wrinkles/folds in peelply. It works great. Light, cheap and let's the deck show!
But I have noticed that my wetsuit boot soles are wearing out fast.

Drafting velum leaves a mirror finish. It doesn’t conform well to compound curves.

No vacuum, also be sure your masking tape edge is very flat.

Ironed P P on towel to remove wrinkles.
Taped edges on rails, top having no wrinkles, no overlap between sections.
Epoxy applied with 2 cm brush JUST enough to become transparent.
Let cure completely before removing.
Almost perfect!
