threaded "potting" inserts for straps and mast mount

Anyone tried something like this? One advantage I see over the typical T-nut is they are closed at the bottom so one less point for water infiltration. They're designed to be set in resin. I haven't found a good US source yet but haven't spent much time looking yet.

Search for snowboard inserts. They have a closed bottom and should be easily available in the US.

I have some 7mm high M6 inserts for sale, but based in Europe...
