I use the Smart Remote. But I do have to make cutouts for the power button and a hole for a screwdriver.

All that's needed now is to make foam rubber inserts and a good day with wind.

Awesome! How long does it take you to CNC it? I've had a Harbor Freight Mini Mill sitting in the garage for years but I've mostly just used it as a drill press. I have no idea how to use it as a mill but always wanted to convert it to a CNC. Never bothered because it's just more money and time. The 3d printer peaked my interest in design and making things again, may have to look into it.

Can't wait to hear how it works!

I think its around 15 minutes of cutting time. The software says 9 minutes, but it seems to always underestimate the time.

Sometimes taking material away is a faster way to make something than adding it. Especially the larger of a thing you want to make. I mostly use it to make molds for hydrofoils.

Yeah, it's always easier to break things. ;)

I think one of the neatest things to print with is rubber (other than Ti probably). May not be very durable but still cool! Made a plug and did a short line test.

So unless there are line arms or a second plug the camera falls down without a lot of angle and tension on the lines. Even the short arms I tried earlier worked much better. I tried adding a small plug to make the safety line hole smaller but still free and no change. Oh well, guess I'll make a version with extruded arms to test again.

It needs to be seen how much this will affect the video in actual use. The Max may still be able to compensate for this with it's stabilization. Considering the line angle I tested is much smaller than what's at the bar above the Y split, perhaps it'll be good enough.

I'm probably going to have to add arms to my design, too. But I can glue them on. I just bought a high temperature hot glue gun that works with HDPE. Not sure how I will make them.

Here's someone else that posted a very simple design on Shapeways. I've used that company before. Anyone can order one made based on a design posted on their website.

GoPro Max Kite Line Mount v1.0

I like the way he has the line brackets set at an angle so the rider isn't going to be in the stitch seam.

Thanks a lot for sharing your work here. can't wait to try your mounts

I got to try it for the first time, and I am very happy with it. I had an uneventful session with no kite crashes or massive jumps, so it wasn't a full test, but I am satisfied so far.

Sweet! I like that idea. I'll have to add that to the flat mount test I was working on. This design still poses tangle issues but at least the rider will be out of the stitch line.

You beat me to it! :) Glad you got to try it out. Did you get a chance to try and loop it to see how it reacts to the lines going around it? What's up with the messed up stitch line on the video? Did you just grab the raw file and uploaded it to youtube?

There is a stitching problem in the video
I think you messed it up while resizing the video (720p).
Anyhow very promising, no arms, or mounts in the frame, very clean

I just noticed that this morning. That was after editing with Cyberlink Powerdirector.
