What differs between CL829 vs CL826 clamcleats

Postby bionicon » Wed May 06, 2020 12:26 pm

Hi all.

I need to replace a slipping cleat on my old Ozone Frenzy 7,5 and also build a better depower system on my old Naish foilkite.
Both the Arocleat 826 and the 829 are listed as suitable for kiteing.

I struggle to get the to practical difference...

Description says the 829 got an extra hole for flagout line. But I can find plenty of examples using the (older?) 826 with a ring attached at the middle of the bottom.
To me it looks like difference lies in that the extra hole in the ended of the 829 makes it maybe a bit easier to use one single rope to make a double rope down trough the bar system?

Well suddenly I scrolled past a photo showing this tiny hole for a 5th line guide ring at the bottom. But then I realized that's something both 826 and 829 got... So even more confused by the description..

A bit funny that Clamcleats own instruction clearly not users that tiny hole but instead laces the ring in the rope loop on the side, as used by many on the 826 https://www.clamcleat.com/activities/ki ... 1-mk2.html

I'm planning to make 4:1 ratio system with one pulley and one more friction ring. And since the dynema rope then needs to be fastened in the cleats bottom end, I guess the CL829 is the way to go?
