I’ve been using a sliding setup for a while. One issue I had was the knots slipping gradually. I recently realized however that there is a better way - use a splice cleat!
In the picture: figure 8 plus overhand (stopper) knot on one side, then go around and do a splice cleat. You want to exit very close to the knot: that way, your QR cannot be blocked, and will keep sliding nicely.
Features:
- Any slippage from the knot can be easily corrected.
- You can quickly move the QR as close or as far as you want.
- You can test how any rope lengths work for you without repeatedly tying and untying knots.

The figure 8 knot slipped about 1 inch after 5+ hours of riding. This moved the splice exit point, which began to interfere with the sliding. Therefore, before you do the splice, “season” the knot by riding on it for 1-2 sessions.
Another solution could be using a Water Bowline knot instead of the figure 8. (Which I haven’t tried yet due to short rope. That knot is described in “The Field Guide to Knots” by Bob Holtzman.)
A similar but different solution in the pic below: no knots, only a splice cleat loop. I rode with this around 6 hours. Unlike in the previous setup, there is no pulley (spreader bar loop) supporting the cleat. Thus the splice cleat bears the full force and will slip (unless perhaps it’s long enough - again my current rope is too short to try). Use a stopper knot to lock the splice loop, and don’t tighten too much - you will likely want to move the stopper knot a couple of times until you get to your preferred length.

Thanks it is nice you can try and adjust length this way to find the most comfortable setting
Once you have picked one though making a fixed splice is the most convinient.
As there is not much bury length the splice would have to be sawn or use brummel locked splice.
What do you think about the infexion QR by the way ?

Just be aware that the pic shown above does double the loads on the spreader bar. Whether that ends up beinng a problem or not is another matter.
I splice the full length of my rope (that way once the outer rope is fully worn throough and i can see the inner rope, there is still plenty of time left to replace it). Then just make a overhand knot (with rope as tight as possible)and put a drop of superglue on the knot.

It’s very nice - there’s a separate topic on it with more info.
