Looks good. Instead of the magnet you could run the oh shit ring around the center lines. I used to do that with my old modified SS bars before I changed them to the new chicken loop.

I would not do that. You would have a hard time releasing the cleat and power up again. To pull depower, no problem. To power up, it would catch the cleat right away again and get stuck. Leave as is and just deal with the tangling handle. Usually when you need to pull in more depower, it is time to get a smaller kite any ways.
I change all the depower ropes on all my various brand bars myself with generic Dyneema line like this
