Hey Billie,
I'm still alive and well! Still building,,, I took up winging recently so I've been finally putting my bigger foils through their paces . Ive grown fond of my 1250cm2 front wing and small sharp stabilizer.

I've made a few wing boards and surfboards for my nutty kids (13 and 15) We are happily chasing wind for the summer.

My building season will start in a couple more months. I have learned to draw wings in fusion 360 and use some CNC machines. I think I will buy one this year and keep the stoke going. I love handbuilding and using every trick I can dream of still, but I have become spoiled by high performance. Wings which come to a fine point at the tips are impossible to make perfect by hand. Washout is difficult to handbuild and repeat also. I want to try carbon exterior skins with polyurethane 2 part foam cores for big wings. Haven't figured out which density or leading edge durability method yet.

I wonder if 8lb PU foam is strong enough to hold together without wrapping cloth around the LE
I really like the idea of drawing and cutting molds with a CNC router , it would save so much time!
I wonder how the pros do it.?...

Any thoughts anyone?
I hope all you builders are well , and building!

thanks for the shout out! !!

I bought a ooznest cnc , 1000x1500mm, but have been so wrapped up in hand-built that ive only got it to commissioning stage. Still have to set up my spindle and spoil board.
People keep asking me to build pocket boards and lots of wing repairs.

I 3D printed one with a 1/2 scale tail. viewtopic.php?f=107&t=2407093
I probably trimmed a bit too much off the trailing edge of the composites cladding, next time I'll try sewing an inner skin of kevlar and trim that close after sewing but run all the other layers past it. I'm really happy with it otherwise except I need to loose about 12KG to properly match it to my weight.. I need to do that anyway! The glide is beautiful if I just push the board out of the water with the foil under but my first two sessions weren't windy enough for me to get on foil. Fortunately I live in Wellington New Zealand and the wind is often gale force :D
Beauty of the 3D printing process is you only use the materials you need, no cutting and clearing of swarf. I even printed sealed cells within the wing.
Have a look at the link above if you want to see how it turned out. No flash paint job yet.

Hey Tom ! Stick with it , the router is so amazing when you start getting creative with it. I made some really cool inlays and carvings! Big learning curve, needs confidence. I'm thinking of that same machine . I am stuck believing that I need to use 1/2" bits which need a ER20 collet which necessitates th 2.2 kw 10lb spindle. Kind of stuck deciding.

Nice work fluidity!

Thanks for checking in Billie, I'm still trying to make it to Lake Mohave!
