Why did you mill away some foam round the insert bases?
Dirk, the recesses are for the Bighead inserts. I laminate the deck too, then drill and glue in the inserts from the deck. The milling recesses the Bighead " head". Then i put a bunch of glass patches on the Bigheads recess and grind it down flush. After that i do finish work.
This way the insert is over the laminate, makes it so strong, board will break apart before insert pulls out.
