Maybe you're skinny and careful instead of fat and careless. If you can use polyurethane go for it, that's way easier to source. Didn't work for me tho. Polyurethane is much softer than nylon it's not the strength it's the abrasion resistance.

Thanks again. EDT based on your local beach, and assuming a midpoint for Michigan. We are about 1400 miles apart so it would have to be one hell of a lunch. Sincerely though, thanks for the offer. If you happen to visit SW Florida get in touch.

Vince and Laura are in Florida right now drove down last week. I could have given him a piece to take to you if you had asked a week ago. I could also mail you a piece if you want.

The PU I have on my CLs is not fibre reinforced, assuming that is what you mean by braided. It is just plain black 12x8mm tubing. It does not need much tensile strength. PU of a decent spec is abrasive resistant and that is what is needed rather than tensile strength. Maybe edt had a diff spec or has a rough hook. My usual hook is well polished dynabar pulley on a runner which is probably the kindest connection out there but they get a lot of hard use. If you google PU it is generally rated as abrasive resistant but proper test data is hard to come by.
The reason I have not used nylon was concern that it may be stiffer and effect the ergonomics of resetting the loop but I have no idea if this concern has any validity. Edt could probably comment on that aspect.
