The plastic on my chicken loop has decided to crack, break and fall off, in that order. The underlying line appears to be just groovy. ie no signs of wear and the metal attachment that goes into the actual release is also in fine shape. This seems to be a very easy repair if one could find the plastic tubing. So good and gentle people can someone point me to a source for same. Preferable a U.S. source.
Thank you in advance

Last time I did this repair I used 12x8mm PU pneumatic tubing bought on E-bay. Some might argue that nylon tube is in fact more wear resistant but I have stuck with PU. Both are available as pneumatic tubing on UK eBay, be surprised if that was not the same stateside!

only nylon tubing lasts long. I have tried everything else it always wore out. I have a huge roll of nylon now. Couldn't find a short piece.

I think the wall thickness is around 1mm, maybe a little bit more and the inside diameter of the tube is around 5mm. The last 3 or so times I tried PU or high pressure tubing any of that other stuff it has only lasted 2 sessions before wearing holes in the loop. Good for you if you can use that stuff, I just don't understand how you can be so gentle on the chicken loop. This nylon has lasted 4 years for me and still going. Remember when you pull the dyneema thru to make sure that it doesn't wiggle around inside the tube, that will cause abrasion. I usually wrap one or two strips of tape around the dyneema so it's wedged in there good and doesn't move around before pulling it through the tube. If you live near me just ask and I'll cut off a piece for you and bring it to the launch.

I have had chicken loops that have tubing marked as polyurethane for several years and they still look good, and I am surprised by edt's experience. I think last time I looked at material specs nylon had a slight edge but weirdly I prefer the feel of PU, Something must have happened in my childhood!
