trough holes to mount mast

Postby dericcio2 » Sun Jan 24, 2021 8:04 am

dear builders,
i am going to mount the hydrofoil mast on my next pocket board by using long screws and trough holes filled with epoxy +30baloons (witout nuts and rails) the board is made in the mast area by 2cm xps + 2cm paulownia. I plan a cylinder of filled epoxy of 2,5 cm diameter high 4cm drilled 8mm diameter. do you think it needs an alu or carbon tube inside to avoid deformation because of screw force?

No , the epoxy is strong enough, beside micro ballons you can use chopped carbon to make a Sauerkraut filling.
Think about this or similar solutions with bigheads:
