Plywood kiteboard help

Postby Snazzykiter » Mon Mar 08, 2021 4:59 pm

Hey guys, I am planning on building a plywood kiteboard from marine ply... I have a few questions... Is it better to do it with 2 sheets of plywood or can you do it with one thick piece of plywood. Also i understand how to get rocker... You can put the tips of the board on a riser of the rocker you want and weight the middle of the board while you glue the two sheets together... But dow do you add concave... And also.. Im a lightish rider 70kg how thick should the middle of the board be and how thick should it be at the tips after the taper?.. I think these are all my questions and I can't wait to hear some answers!

If you plan on making a light wind board, don't bother with concaves. After all a plywood build is supposed to be simple and cheap. If you look for a performance twin tip for stronger winds, just get a used board if you wan to save money. Have a look at my build. Gluing up two layers is definitely the way to go. Especially with marine ply where steam will do very little to bend rocker. It's already difficult to steam bend with regular glue plywood. viewtopic.php?f=107&t=2389091
