Did anyone manage to save an STL free??
Hi fluidity.
I saved it with .3dm and then converted it to .stl, because the option to save to stl was not enabled
best regards

Absolutely! All you need to do to access the foil import + export features is create a free account. I've enjoyed your thread and think WingHopper is a perfect compliment to your software!
from
https://www.winghopper.com/faq:
Import foil section .dat files by changing their file extension from .dat to .txt. WingHopper wings are modelled with 3 sections per wing, for the root, midspan, and tip locations. This allows for sections to be optimized for the local flow patterns.
Would love to look at ways to combine forces + collaborate if you're interested
hi Zach, congratulations for the initiative I have not yet worked with the winghopper I just touched some parameters I was already used to this system, because here in the kiteforum there is a similar to karoro only for kites design. I miss a button undoing each modification.
in the download options only the .3dm and .xml format are enabled?
I tried to export an .xml file to xlfr5 and I couldn't find it to enter xlfr5.
there is some option in the winghopper to change the direction of the wing in front view, but in parts. And not entirely from the wing tip to the wing tip?

Good stuff, I'll check it out!
For a collab. I'd be keen. I'm planning / busy moving my program out of excel, to make it easier to use as a website interface for example. Will give a shout when it's all done.

Hey Eric! Sorry for the late reply. you need to import the wing in the wing definition menu - it is not an XFLR5 polar file, it is a wing file. Polar files just contain 2D section results.
Wing and Plane analysis -> Define a new Plane -> Main Wing -> Import
Let me know if you have any more questions! I will update the FAQ to include this. Thanks for the feedback!

Hey ZachgMoves, I've come back to your tool to create a simple stab to one of my front wings and I thought it would be great to have a small "library" of ready wing designs that you can choose as a starting point and just modify to your liking. Just a few simple shapes that you can click on and start changing parameters. That's just because your tool has so many options that it can be a bit confusing sometimes
Also, I've tried uploading a wing profile taken from the airfoiltools.com with no success
could you let me know how to do that? I'm copying the dat coordinates and saving to txt file but I'm getting some computation time error.

Salvatoreone - I totally agree, having some templates ready to go is a great idea. It's in the pipeline already! The tool is definitely somewhat overwhelming so I'm working to make it more useful with features like this - thanks for the suggestion!
You should be able to upload any .DAT foil file by changing the file extension to .TXT - no need to copy and paste into a new file. Keep the airfoil name in there are the top as well. Let me know if you have any more trouble!
Zach
