Clam-Cleat Device for Depower Line and Saftey Line

Postby 1234567Simon » Sun Apr 11, 2021 9:28 pm

Dear All,

I would like to modifiy my new Kite Bar. Therefore I am searching for a ClamCleat to run the Depower-Line AND the saftey line.

Ideal would be, that I do not have to splice anything.

The usual Clamcleats do not have the option to also run the Saftey-Line.

Until now I used the Gaastra shiftadjuster.... but I can´t buy them anywhere anymore

Only thing I found is the Duotone Vario Cleat with is around 45 Euros... (used for the trust bar)

Below I put a picture of how I would like to run the lines.... but I am flexible on that.

thanks a lot
BR
Simon

The red line is the safety flag out line

Bought a clamcleat + aerobase from eBay in uk for £12 a week or so ago. Think seller was arturas2253arturas. As you thread the base put a ring or loop in if you want a fairlead for flag line.

just looked at what Herman posted, it's also what i've been looking for, not as neat as the Vario cleat but for an old bar it's perfect

Most of my bars are using the clamcleat pictured above (that's what comes with Ozone bars, or the KiteAttitude bars, amongst others...), and it's a great piece of hardware for kiting. Easy to add an extra stainless steel ring when threading the rope through the base of the cleat if you need your safety line to be constrained there. As far as I'm concerned, I don't think this provides any benefit. (Maybe because I use low V setup?) I also use QRs that do not need a double depower line going through the bar. Single is simpler and cleaner, and easier to replace or maintain. (Hence why the previous Megatron QR from Ozone is my favorite QR).

There is also a Clamcleat with Aero base that has a small hole. On my bars i use it to thread a 1mm line through with a 4mm pu tube around it as a guide for the flagout line. This keeps the flagout line out of the Clamcleat and it is nicely soft and light to not be obstructive in any other way.

Just checked my aerobase, it has the attachment point used by Evan. I used the cleat in a similar way to bragnoef’s set up for a bar I cobbled together from spares acquired over the years so don’t have a flag line guide. I call it my mumbo bar as it has a little bit of.....F1, North, Ozone, LiquidForce, and Wipika

Thanks a lot to all!!!

Yes I will take this one!!

Never saw the little extra whole on the bottom .
I also like the „ring“ possibility!

In the clamcleat Homepage they also do Not Show what I was looking for, but with the tip from bragnouff I found the right pictures. Thx !

Thanks to Evan for the tip with the little loop attached to the clamcleat!

Thanks a lot
be Simon

This one shows the possibility to go through the „adapter“ without splicing

Here is a little metal ring

@OP: This shows exactly the setup you were asking about (NOTE - it has an extra hole compared to the other ones pictured in this thread):

Hello Evan,
did you use a dyneema loop inside the Ronstan b20 pulley? If Yes which size? 2/3mm?

Thanks a lot.
