I have to say, as a beginner in the "Make your own bar/lines" arena, I am usually overwhelmed by these posts! I read a sentence and say to myself "what the **** does that mean?". Please, keep it up. I am slowly learning a lot. And, I realize I have a ways to go before making my own bars. Previous experience with sailing seems to help a lot. Just finished my first set of lines and hope to make a video of my own splicing method for small diameter (1.1 mm) lines. I found it really easy? That said, it's wind time in the gorge so I may have to wait till Sept!!!

Hi Watercamper,
Have at it! Like all projects it is just a series of smaller steps. One by one you will get it done. Lots of info on this site.
Would be interested in your line splicing method. Doesn't néed to be a massive essay, just a couple of pictures.

Well I got to test the flag out today..... twice! What a day. I haven’t used a safety in years and now twice in one day. Any way, worked perfectly both times. No stopper on the line so it did go a long way up to the kite. Reset was easy.
The stopper ball I have on the depower line was just held by a light friction, not enough and the ball was always down on top of the bar. Very annoying when holding with one hand.

Update, I have changed out the spectra adjuster for a camcleat from SK shapes. The spectra worked but was a bit on/off and needed a little fiddling to get exactly where you wanted it. Plus the 2 balls and extra line and rings were a little messy, they got knotted up a couple of times and may have stopped the safety flag out from working. I’m sure with a bit more time it could be made to work well. Camcleat was quicker and easier to setup. It is also very tidy. Slight weight penalty.
